/Pharmaceutical PR News/ - MONROVIA, CA, March 08, 2008 - Senator Richard Moore will speak on April 18, 2008 on recent stem cell legislation and policy initiatives at GTCbio's 4th International Conference on Stem Cell Research & Therapeutics in Boston, MA.
Senator Richard Moore who is chairman of the Joint Committee on Health Care Financing is actively involved in current stem cell legislation to reverse restrictions on stem cell research. The research limits, drafted by Governor Mitt Romney's aides and adopted by the state Public Health Council, generated widespread criticism from scientists and leading legislators.
Senator Moore will highlight some of the key stem cell issues the state will face in 2008 and in the coming years, including the announcement of Massachusetts' $1 billion stem cell plan. The money would go to support research and enhancing the work being done at public universities in the state, as well as the creation of a stem cell bank and a repository of stem cell lines that could be used by researchers all over the world.
The 4th international conference brings together leading stem cell experts to discuss new and unreleased information on the latest cutting-edge advancements in the field including the differentiation of Stem Cells, epigenomics & reprogramming, imaging, cancer stem cells, applications in drug discovery, regulatory aspects and funding opportunities.
