Andrew's mother described the entrapment she felt when her son was in the throes of addiction: "Once I learned my son was addicted I worried every single minute of every of every hour, every single day. I constantly expected that a policeman would arrive to my door telling me that my son had died from an overdose. Some of his friends had overdosed and I felt it was only a matter of time before it happened to Andrew. The severity of the situation came to light when Andrew did overdose. Fortunately, he was at home and his father saved his life. It was then that I knew I had to do something and I found Narconon.

For 12 years Brent's father was caught up in his son's addiction. He had already lost his wife to addiction and came close to losing his son. "The whole family was trapped by Brent. I finally had to put him in a trailer from my home to keep him from stealing stuff.

"It is great to see him plan for the future, rather than living hour by hour. He is doing things on his own, which is more freedom for me. I don't have to constantly worry about what I am going to have to pay for him. "
